For Bidders

What is proxy bidding?

Proxy bidding means a bidder can enter a maximum bid amount and the auction will automatically bid in their absence, executing their bid for them and trying to keep the bid price as low as possible. This is nice because it means a bidder doesn't have to be at the auction every minute to make sure they are not outbid. When you are the highest bidder and you have been out-bid by another user, you will receive an email notification so that you have a chance to re-enter a new bid amount.

How do I find the results of an auction?

Use your My Area page to track the status of your bids.  You will also get email notification when an auction expires and any reserve price has been met.

In the My Area page, some item bids are red -- why?

Items appear in red when someone has out-bid your highest bid. You need to up your bid else lose the item!

Can I retract my bid?

No.  But under extreme circumstances you can contact traderbike on the contacts page and we will always try to help.

How do I arrange delivery?

Traderbike can deliver anywhere in the UK for a fixed price of £120+vat within 7 working days.

Are there any fees for bidding?

For bidding on a motorcycle there are no charges, if you are the winning bidder and the reserve price has been met there will be a small administration cost of £20 + vat on top of the motorcycle price.

How do I contact the seller of an auction?

All motorcycles offered on the site are administered by traderbike.  For all enquiries about any item offered you can contact us by using the contact page.

How often are your pages updated?

Our pages are updated every time you view the page. If there is any doubt, click your refresh button in your browser.  Also, your My Area bid and sell pages refresh automatically -- see the yellow help on those pages for more information.

What is a reserve price?

The reserve price is the figure that the vendor has set as the minumum they will accept for each item.  When the reserve price is met the motorcycle is on sale for the highest bidder to buy.  Until the reserve price is met the vendor can reserve the right to sell.  Although if you are the highest bidder when the auction ends and the reserve price is not met a member of staff from traderbike will negotiate with the vendor to see if your bid will be acceptable

What if i am the winning bidder?

The winning bidder will automatically receive an email letting them know that they have successfully bought the bike.  An Invoice from Traderbike will follow and delivery or collection will be arranged. Payment must be agreed with traderbike before collection.
